Who else, but my favorite buffoon and shady businessman, Todd “Pay Now for a Spider I May get In Later” Gearheart talking crap about my lack of ethics and morals! One would think that he learned a lesson back in early 2008 when I posted detailed reviews about his outright sleazy practice of taking cash deposits and his misleading policies regarding use of his “valuable” store credit.
In true Gearheart style, he continues to advertise and accept payment for animals that he has yet to actually get in his greedy little claws. Especially sordid is when inevitably some of the animals don’t make it in for any number of reasons and he won’t give a cash refund to the poor, unsuspecting hobbyist. Early on, I learned the hard way when I pre-sold several spiders thinking that they would arrive any day. A couple months later I offered and gave a cash refund to two patient customers. I had learned my lesson. The sad part is that you have a “veteran” dealer out there that continues this practice.
I like to think of Toddie’s business practice as getting his customers to foot the bill for stocking his inventory. And I use the term “inventory” loosely, as it appears that he doesn’t cotton to tying up his own cash. I think the reason he describes 98% of his inventory as “rare” what he really means is it’s rare that he has it in stock. It’s generally a simple procedure, I pay wholesale for inverts, apply a fair markup, and then sell them to hobbyists. Todd “Enron” Gearheart, on the other hand, attempts to finance his wholesale purchases with the hard-earned money of his unsuspecting customers. Adding insult to injury, unless one presses the issue, T.G. will try his damnedest to not give a cash refund in the event that a certain animal is not available.
“Cutting Edge” my ass, Toddie-boy. I’m not even going to ask for my usual fee for your new tagline that I thought of, “The Dealer that Put the “Todd” in Tawdry”. Remember, caveat emptor is NOT a species of scorpion!
